1885 CC $1 Morgan Dollar NGC MS 64 Uncirculated Carson City Mint Cert#8073

An attractive 1885 CC silver Morgan dollar graded MS 64 by NGC. This Carson City Mint date is mostly blast white throughout both sides with extremely lustrous surfaces. It carries attractive mark free surfaces for the grade with nice original surfaces. What makes this coin unique is that the part above 'L & I' on the obverse is very weakly struck. We are sure this is some type of a striking issue at the mint but we have never seen one like this before. This date carries one of the lowest mintage's of the entire series of only 228,000. Of this mintage, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that 174,250 have survived in all grades today. This coin is one of 7,873 graded Mint State 64 by NGC.
