1880 5C Shield Nickel PCGS F 15 CAC Approved Key Date Island Reverse

An attractive 1880 key date shield nickel graded F-15 by PCGS. This coin was previously graded very fine by PCGS. However, even though we expected it to end up in a VF-30 holder they decided to down-grade it to only an F-15. Therefore, we sent it in and got it approved by CAC for quality. This rare and desirable date is seldom offered certified problem free in any grade level. It is the more desirable 'island reverse' which are the non-disputed business strike examples. It has been approved by CAC for quality which makes it one of only three examples approved by CAC in this F-15 grade.
