A very attractive 1861 Civil War Date, three cent silver piece graded AU 53 by PCGS. It carries a strong strike throughout both sides with very attractive crusty original toned surfaces. A very appealing coin for the grade that is seldom offered certified in this condition.
This popular Civil War Era date holds a fairly high mintage of 497,000. However, of this mintage the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 7,500 have survived in all grades today. This coin is one of only 55 graded About Uncirculated 53 by PCGS.
